One of the symptoms of the wonky Link is a small buildup of static electricity. This is inconvenient, as it makes the Book unsafe to carry electronics through.
I’ve been experimenting with tinfoil and some other forms of metal shielding to see if I could protect electronic devices with a Faraday cage. Unfortunately, it seems not to work at all. Thirty-five dollars worth of low-end digital watches later, I’ve concluded that my initial suspicion was correct: the static builds up evenly through the whole volume, so surface shielding doesn’t have any effect.
This is inconvenient, but not impossible to deal with. There are other Linking Books to Greenflower, in the Nexus; and if we lose those, then in the last extremity we can still Write a better Link.
Not that it isn’t still annoying.
Oh well.
Hmm, well if you are still interested in finding a home for that book I have an idea. I came across a Book almost a year ago which ended up leading to 3 more.
The Age I’ve dubbed Age 3 was designed to look like a district of D’ni once inside it quickly becomes appartent that it’s a fake. But it had no way out save a Linking Book kept in a Vault with a timed lock. I think the Age was used to delay those inside till the Writer decided it would be most opportune.
I was considering turning the Age into a Office Age, but it’s such a big empty space… So if you wish I can give you a Linking Book and you can set up an office there, it’d be nice having a Neighbor.
So up to you. Have a good day.
That would be wonderful. I remember seeing people make their homes or offices in various Ages accessible to the public, and so I can believe that a Book kept there could easily be kept open to visitors as I had originally hoped.
Now, where did I leave it…?
